The Vauxhall Chevette was manufactured in a different period to the Kadett, made from 1975-84. Assembled in Luton and Ellesmere Port, the name was originally conceived to mean ‘Baby Chevrolet’, with US giant GM as the parent company wishing to sell the concept on home turf (eventually becoming the Chevrolet Chevette)
